In The Ranger's Apprentice series you follow an orphan named Will. He was left in Castle Redmount's Orphanage after his parents had died in the war. Later on, he was watched and studied as others found that he was very stealthy and he was soon approached by the Ranger of Redmount, Halt. Will had faced many hardships and dealt with them rather well, so I chose to symbolize him as a feather. I chose this item to symbolize him because a feather is lightweight and carefree, much like his appearance and personality. It also is often ignored which symbolizes his stealthy abilities that he had learned throughout the series. Finally, the feather clutches to a bird until it no longer needs it anymore, which I saw was similar to his ability to manipulate others and then float away when it wasn't needed anymore.
Another character I would like to symbolize is Will's teacher, Halt. In the beginning Halt is shrouded in mystery, and is thought of using, "black magic", but when Will went under his training, people began to recognize his skills and understood him a little better. If I had to choose an item to represent him, it would be a cactus because similar to a cactus Halt is hard to approach and is difficult to be around. Many people are put off by his behavior and appearance, as they relate it to the stories they had heard of him. Finally, a cactus must be opened to reach the water inside, so Will had to learn to be open and good nurtured around Halt to maneuver around his "prickly" outside and reach the more appreciative inside.
